Options
Should
you be interested in working as an accountant, there are several
routes you can follow to get started, and begin applying
your new
skills and contribute to the industry.
- Start
your own accounting firm. You will have to maintain a regular operation
and keep your
office open to clients, but the advantage of being the head of
your company means you can choose which clients to accept.
- Practice
as a freelance accountant. More flexible than having your own
firm, you will not have to set regular hours and keep
an office
open everyday.
- Join
an accounting firm. Although you will have not have the same freedom
that freelancers have, the firm will
help find clients
for
you.
- Get
yourself hired as a full-time managerial or regular accountant
for company. This promises the most stability in exchange
for
flexibility.
Finally,
don’t forget to check with the Association of Chartered
Certified Accountants for more
information.
/ Training
A career
in accounting begins with the proper training to get the necessary
skills you’ll
need to do your job effectively. Many Universities and Colleges
offer accountancy courses with certificates
from Undergraduate to Master’s Degrees. These courses
encompass a wide range of subjects, including preparation
for the CPA exam,
so that you can be on your way to earning the title of Chartered
Accountant.
