Chartered Accountants
Even
without the right qualifications, anyone can claim to be an accountant.
This is why finding a good accountant means finding one who is
certified, or chartered. All chartered accountants are listed in
either the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales,
or in the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
Chartered
accountants are also listed with the Association of Chartered
Certified Accountants. Or they may be members of the Chartered
Institute
of Management Accountants. This particular type of accountant commonly
works full-time within a company.

/ About
the Institute of Chartered Accountants
The
governing body of accountants in the UK is The Institute of Chartered
Accountants. It was formed
to safeguard
the public interest
through
the profession’s high standards of qualification
and its enforced rules of conduct. Adhering to international
standards set in collaboration
with other institutes of chartered accountants around
the world, they are required to comply with mandatory
inspection and insurance
policies.
These rules
and guidelines ensure that the high standards set forth by the
Institute will be maintained by accounts that certified under
them. In addition, the Institute schedules courses and yearly
tax clinics to keep their members current in the industry. Certified
accountants are the ones that work throughout the UK, dealing
with every area of accounting on a daily basis. This means it
is a good practice to choose accountants with at least certification
from the Institute.
